What is Forefront Client Security (FCS)? 2

FCS is a security solution provided by Microsoft to safeguard your environment desktop and servers against spy ware, malware and antivirus. You can say its a one stop shop to setup, manage and administer virus protection to your organization.
Forefront Roles to be installed

• Management Server - It provides dashboard view of all the clients.
• Collection Server and db - Collects data/errors and other relevant information from clients.
• Reporting server and reporting database - View reports and events on client machines.
• Distribution Server - Manage updated for definitions via WSUS service.

You can combine all the above roles and install them on a single server or split them up. Latter choice is preferred in terms of efficiency if the organization you manage is medium to large scale environment.
The following system requirements have to be met before you can think about installing FCS -

• .NET framework 2.0 or higher
• GPMC with SP1
• WSUS 3.0 with SP1 or higher
• Report viewer redistributable 2005
• IIS 6.0 with ASP.net
• MMC 3.0
• Domain user account dedicated to FCS.
